DM Fax Server configurations that include Brooktrout SR140 virtual fax board software are now compatible with VMware.
- SR140 SDK 5.1.3 or later (TR1034 is not compatible with VMware at this time)
- ESX Server version 3.0.1 or later within the 3.0.x product line
- Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, Service Pack 2
- Windows 2003 Standard Edition, Service Pack 2
- Windows 2000, Service Pack 4
- The VMware virtual environment created for SR140 must meet SR140 minimum requirements as well as the minimum processor emulated by VMware, which is the Xeon processor. Therefore, the minimum requirements of the virtual machine presented to SR140 are: Single Xeon - 2 GHz, 512 MB memory. This results in approximately 15% CPU utilization when running 120 simultaneous SR140 faxes.
Rack-Mount Servers
- A rack-mount server may be used to host DM Fax Server software and the fax board hardware. If you plan to use a rack-mount server, Imecom recommends a 2U or larger chasse. You may use your preferred server brand, i.e. HP, Dell, Gateway, etc. Our main recommendation is to ensure that your server machine or chasse is capable of housing a full length, 13-inch fax board.
PLEASE NOTE: If you elect to use a riser card, often found in 1U and 2U servers, it is very likely that you will be limited to one Brooktrout fax board per server. Riser cards often create conflicts when multiple Brooktrout fax boards are installed on the same riser card.
Tower Servers
- A tower server may be used to host DM Fax Server software and the fax board hardware. If using a tower server, Imecom recommends using a mid- or full-tower chasse, not a mini-tower chasse. You may use your preferred server brand, i.e. HP, Dell, Gateway, etc. Our main recommendation is to ensure that your server machine or chasse is capable of housing a full length, 13-inch fax board.
Imecom Group supplies and supports Brooktrout TR1034, TR114, TruFax, and SR140 fax board products from Cantata. If you are currently using or plan to use Brooktrout TR1034 or TR114 series fax boards, note that they are full length 13-inch fax boards. As stated previously, make sure that the server machine designated to host the fax card(s) is large enough to support full length cards.
