The DM LDAP/Data Connector™ is a core component of the DM Fax Server that enables you to connect to any LDAP directory or database, including Microsoft Active Directory, Novell NDS/eDirectory, and Lotus Domino Directory.
The DM LDAP/Data connector enables the DM Fax Server to retrieve information stored in a directory or database through LDAP and populate fields on an outbound fax cover page. Common fields include sender name, sender company, sender department, and sender fax number. Any additional information stored in an LDAP-compliant database or directory that you want to include on the fax cover page can also be retrieved.
The DM LDAP/Data Connector is particularly useful if you intend to assign fax DID numbers to each end user within your organization. DM LDAP/Data will populate the "Sender Fax Number" cover page field with the fax DID that belongs to the user who originated the fax.
The DM LDAP/Data Connector greatly simplifies fax cover page assignment by streamlining the process. The DM LDAP/Data Connector can connect to your main network directory, i.e. Microsoft Active Directory or Novell NDS/eDirectory, and retrieve user/group organizational structures. This enables you to easily assign fax cover sheets to the entire organization, to specific groups, or to individual users. When DM Fax Server processes an outbound fax job, it will detect who originated the fax and through the DM LDAP/Data Connector will automatically add the correct fax cover page.
The DM LDAP/Data Connector can be used to control user rights and permissions for users and groups. Common rights and permissions include:
During the process of routing inbound/outbound faxes, the DM LDAP/Data Connector can be used to query a directory or database to retrieve information to be used during the routing process. For example, for outbound fax routing, you can detect which user or group within your organization originated a fax job and transmit the fax over a specific fax line or group of lines, or delay the transmission to a later date/time. For inbound fax routing, you can perform DID fax number lookups and have DM Fax Server route faxes to the correct user/folder/printer.
