Error Notification and Correction
The DM Alarms Module™ monitors DM Fax Server system performance for errors and trouble indicators. System administrations can be alerted upon error and DM Alarms can attempt to automatically correct the error.
Features and Benefits
- Minimize server downtime
- Automatically receive error notifications via SMTP, Windows Messaging, SNMP, and SMS
- Implement automatic error resolution through corrective actions
- Achieve fault-tolerance and ensure redundancy
- Implement comprehensive disaster recovery options
Rules-based Architecture
DM Alarms gives you complete control over how error alerts and correction is implemented. Simply configure DM Alarms to monitor various system performance indicators, setup who to notify in the event of an error and which method to use for error alerts, and if desired, what corrective actions to take.
Error Notification
If DM Alarms detects an error, it can notify system administrators and IT staff via:
- SMTP
- MAPI
- Windows Events and Windows Messaging
- SNMP alert
- SMS
- Running a program
Error Correction
If you choose, DM Alarms can attempt to correct errors through corrective actions. Corrective action may be undertaken on the local host and on remote server(s). Corrective actions include:
- Services – start, stop, or restart
- Server reboot
- Kill a process
- Execute a program
Load-balancing and Disaster Recovery
The DM Alarms Module can be an integral component to any load-balanced or redundant DM Fax Server configuration. In load-balanced systems, the DM Alarms Module may be installed on each Remote DM Fax Gateway Server (fax board server). Each instance of DM Alarms monitors its remote counterpart. Similarly, in Disaster Recovery implementations, DM Alarms can be installed on each DM Fax Server system. In the event of an error, the system administrator is notified while DM Alarms attempts to correct any errors that have occurred.
