SMTP Fax Server

The Imecom Fax Server for SMTP enables user and application to send and receive faxes via SMTP mail. Whether you use Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, SendMail, or another email server application, faxes can be sent and received using a regular SMTP client – no additional client software required.

How It Works

The Imecom Fax Server uses the Microsoft Windows IIS SMTP Virtual Server to communicates with an email server. All you need to do is configure the email server to route outbound faxes to the Imecom Fax Server. Likewise, the Imecom Fax Server will be configured to route inbound faxes and fax delivery confirmation messages to the email server. This simple, clean integration enables any mail user in to fax from the desktop using an email client – no client software is required.

Sending Faxes

  • Receive and view faxes right in your Inbox or as an email message with a link to a location from which the fax may be retrieved

Application and MFP Integration

Any application that’s email-enabled can programmatically send faxes via the Imecom Fax Server for SMTP. End users may also fax hard copy documents through any email-enabled MFP (Multi-Function Peripheral) device.

Fax Server Administration

  • Central MMC-based administration console available on the Fax Server or remote workstations
  • Supports the Microsoft Exchange SMTP Send Connector, Novell GroupWise Internet Agent, Lotus Domino SMTP, MailSweeper, and other SMTP gateways
  • LDAP integration for network directory access without requiring schema extensions. Supports Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, Lotus Domino Directory, Sun, and any other LDAP-compliant directory.
  • Manage fax users, cover pages, and user rights through Directory Group and User policies
  • View activity, send, and receive logs as well as pending queue
